Você pode nos dizer como você se interessou e começou com a música?Crescendo acima eu acho que uma das primeiras bandas que eu já ouvi foi ACDC. De lá, eu meio que se mudou para o movimento punk e da cena hardcore. Eu fiquei realmente inspirado por todo o "faça você mesmo" conceito na esfera do punk, então eu peguei uma guitarra-baixo e começou a tocar baixo. Eu estava em algumas bandas punk em Albuquerque, Novo México, onde eu cresci. E então, quando eu fui para a faculdade, me mudei para a Flórida para ir para Rollins College, para estudar Med Pre. Eu precisava de uma tomada e eu queria continuar fazendo música, então eu comecei a fazer a coisa de DJ na rádio. Eu comecei como um show punk hardcore / rock, fez uma revista por um tempo, shows agendados na minha faculdade, e começou a Genitorturers banda também. Eu acho que a música sempre foi uma grande parte da minha vida em alguns aspectos, por anos e anos.
Vocês acham que a música era cruzar com a cena Fetish, então?
Bem, não foi uma cena de fetiche, quero dizer que não existia quando começamos a banda. Você tem que tipo de lembrar a banda começou muito tempo atrás, tudo era escandalosamente subterrâneo. Obviamente, não havia internet, você tinha que ir fisicamente aos clubes para fazer algo assim, e realmente não havia nenhuma cena Fetish para falar dos outros do que na comunidade gay de couro. Houve algum piercing e algumas cenas S & M, uma espécie de REALMENTE underground da cena swinger. Mas, não havia realmente observando associado com a forma diferente do piercing associado com o punk e coisas assim. Então, isso não existia. É algo que eu acho que Genitortures ajudou a criar no momento, porque eu diria que foi uma das primeiras bandas a começar a trazer esses elementos em nossa performance ao vivo.
Qualquer coisa particularmente louco, você se lembra?
Engraçado como destaques, lembro-me de uma pequena banda chamada Marilyn Manson And The Spooky Kids, que estavam colocando em um dos nossos shows abertos para nós, era apenas o Spooky Kids na época. Foi engraçado porque eu só lembro de olhar para fora e ver Brian (como ele costumava ser conhecido antes de se tornar Manson) que ele estava usando seu pequeno meias listradas e unha polonês azul dedo, ele tinha calda de chocolate que estava despejando-o sobre as meninas no linha da frente. E então ele acendeu sua marmita no fogo e mijou nele! E os donos do clube foram todos como "Oh meu Deus! Ele realmente pisou-a! "Ninguém tinha visto nada assim, mas eu acho que ele soube que ele estava abrindo para o melhor e ele Genitorturers algo figura! (Risos)
Porque você acha que as mulheres não são representadas na música mais pesada?
Está começando a mudar, mas eu ainda acho que a resposta da indústria da música, e não os fãs, mas a indústria da música tem sido ainda que não é viável para uma série de razões. It's ok para um cara que se levantar e fazer as coisas e comportar-se de certa forma, mas ainda há todos esses tabus bizarro que ainda existem. Eu acho que a figura que nós criamos com este álbum é uma espécie de "Gen Of Arc" figura em termos de dirigir uma revolução. Eu acho que em muitos níveis que está fazendo um comentário sobre o negócio da música. Se você ouvir a primeira faixa que diz "Eu sou um mártir em uma indústria de cafetões e prostitutas" e isso é um elemento de grande ...
Eu estive ao redor da indústria da música por um longo tempo, temos vindo a fazer isso, nós ainda estamos aqui. Nós somos o que somos, nós somos reais, e nós não vamos nos ajoelhar diante de as vacilações e as alterações do tema do momento.
Can you tell us how you got interested and started with music?
Growing up I guess one of the first bands I ever got into was ACDC. From there I kinda moved into the punk movement and the hardcore scene. I got really inspired by the whole “do it yourself” concept in the punk realm, so I picked up a bass guitar and started playing bass. I was in a couple punk bands in Albuquerque , New Mexico where I grew up. And then when I went to college, I moved to Florida to go to Rollins College, to study Pre Med. I needed an outlet and I wanted to continue doing music, so I started doing the DJ thing on the radio. I started like a punk rock/hardcore show, did a magazine for a while, booked shows at my college, and started the band Genitorturers as well. I guess music has always been a big part of my life in some regards for years and years.
Any particularly crazy things you can remember?
Funny highlights like, I remember a little band named Marilyn Manson And The Spooky Kids that were putting on one of our shows opened for us, it was just The Spooky Kids back then. It was funny because I just remember looking out and watching Brian (as he used to be known before he became Manson) he was wearing his little striped socks and blue finger nail polish, he had chocolate syrup he was pouring it on the girls in the front row. And then he lit his lunch box on fire and peed in it! And the club owners were all like “Oh my God! He really stepped it up!” No one had seen him do anything like that, but I guess he heard that he was opening for The Genitorturers and he better figure something out! (Laughs)

Did you find that music was crossing over with the Fetish scene then?
Well, there wasn't a Fetish scene, I mean that didn't exist when we started the band. You have to kind of remember the band was started a very long time ago, everything was outrageously underground. Obviously, there was no internet, you had to physically go to clubs to do anything like that, and really there was no Fetish scene to speak of other than in the gay leather community. There was some piercing and some S&M scene, kind of REALLY underground in the swinger scene. But, there was really noting associated with fashion other than the piercing associated with punk and things like that. So, that didn't exist. It's something I do think that Genitortures helped create at the time, because I'd say we were one of the first bands to start bringing those elements into our live performance.
Why do you think women aren't represented more in heavy music?
It's starting to change, but I still think that the response by the music industry, not the fans, but the music industry has still been that it's not as viable for a lot of reasons. It's ok for a guy to get up and do things and conduct themselves a certain way, but there are still all these bizarre taboos that still exist. I think that the figure that we've created with this album is kind of a “Gen Of Arc” figure in terms of leading a revolution. I think on a lot of levels it's making a commentary on the music business. If you listen to the first track it says “I'm a martyr in an industry of pimps and whores” and that's a big element...
I've been around the music industry for a long time, we've been doing this, we're still here. We are who we are, we're real, and we're not going to kowtow to the vacillations and the changes of the theme of the moment.
