BaronesS formado em meados de 2003, fundado por ex-membros do punk / metal banda Johnny Johnny Welfare and the Paychecks. Baroness tem permanecido em silêncio sobre as origens dos seus name.Singer John Baizley cria a arte para todos os álbuns do Baroness, e fez ilustrações para outras bandas e gravadoras, como Darkest Hour, The Red Chord, Vitamin X, da turnê Sounds Underground, Kylesa , Torche, Pig Destroyer e as Magrudergrind / grindcore shitstorm CD split em Robotic Empire. O seu álbum de 2007, intitulada Red Album foi nomeado Álbum do Ano pela revista de heavy metal Revolvermag de heavy metal. Em 01 de dezembro de 2007,o Baroness realizou em Nova York Bowery Ballroom, o concerto que foi filmado na íntegra e pode ser visto na página Woozyfly. Em 20 de setembro de 2008, a banda anunciou através do MySpace Brian Blickle seria e despedido, ao mesmo tempo, entrou um novo guitarrista chamado Peter Adams. Em 18 mai 2009 Baroness entrou no estúdio Track em Plano, TX gravar seu segundo álbum produzido por John Congleton (The Roots, Explosions in the Sky, Black Mountain, The Polyphonic Spree). Foi lançado via Relapse Records em 13 de outubro de 2009

Baroness formed in mid-2003, founded by former members of the punk/metal band Johnny Welfare and the Paychecks. Baroness has remained silent about the origins of their name.Singer John Baizley creates the artwork for all Baroness albums, and has done artwork for other bands and labels such as Darkest Hour, The Red Chord, Vitamin X, Sounds of the Underground tour, Kylesa, Daughters, Torche, Pig Destroyer, and the Magrudergrind/Shitstorm split grindcore CD on Robotic Empire. Their 2007 album entitled Red Album was named Album of the Year by heavy metal magazine Revolver. On December 1, 2007, Baroness performed at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, and the concert was filmed in its entirety and can be viewed on their WoozyFly page. On September 20, 2008, the band announced via MySpace Brian Blickle would be parting ways, while also introducing a new guitarist named Peter Adams. On May 18, 2009 Baroness entered The Track Studio in Plano, TX to record their second full length album produced by John Congleton (The Roots, Explosions in the Sky, Black Mountain, The Polyphonic Spree). It was released via Relapse Records on October 13th, 2009
