Até agora não foram encontradas circunstâncias da causa de sua morte mas o próprio Stuart admitiu ser alcoolotra e usuário de drogas deve ser isto a causa de sua demissão em 2003 após o vocalista Kelly Jones também ter saído mais tarde escreveu um livro sobre o tempo em que viveu com a banda prometeu e esquecer os dêmonios do passado e tornou-se apresentador de um programa de rock da BBC.

Sua famila diz que não mais nada para comentar e que tudo está na mãos da policia
